Books to read when you do not feel your best

“Books are a uniquely portable magic.” - Stephen King

We all have those days, or weeks even when we just don't feel well. Or maybe we don't feel well because something has actually happend in our life. Whatever it is that makes us feel down, we can use something happy and good at that time. So I want to share with you five books and one tip that might work, if just a little bit.

1. A really fluffy book can sometimes help when you just need a little bit of love, fluff and happiness.

This is the story of one fangirl and her dream. A con and a handsome kinda prince is included as well, of course. Geekerella has friendship, love, fandom and fluff.

2. If all you want is to take a break from the world, I would suggest going to another world for a change.

Let Brandon Sanderson take you away to his amazing world. In the Mistborn trilogy you will find magic, plots, politics, kings, gods, evil and good. Everything you need to travel a little bit. They might look a little bit intimidating just for the sheer size of the books, but no not fear, they are just as amazing as they are long.

3. If neither fluff nor fantasy works, why not try a healthy combo of them?

Tricia Levenseller gives you a series that has pretty much everything. One badass pirate girl, with one badass crew (Oh, and they are women as well), an evil pirate king, and of course, a little love and a twist. This is not as heavy as High fantasy and it has a more light tone to it. And if you don't really have the strength to read a book of 600 pages, this is a good choice, because it is a little thinner in is't page number.

4. If not all fluff, maybe just a little funny would do? After all, they do say that laughter is the best medicin.

The books about the different Janes are hilarious. The timing of dialog is unbelievable. It's also a little bit of a history lesson in them...only like not one with much truth in it. It is on the lighter side, not something that will have you wonder a lot after you read it. And it is really, really funny.

5. Turn the fluff UP!

Pretty much anything by Kasie West have one drown in all the fluff. It is so sweet you get toothache and sometimes that is all one need. Just so much fluff it comes out of one's ear.

And a tip... If nothing else seems to work, take that book that makes you feel like you are coming home. Take a cup of something warm, a blanket and crawl up in the sofa or your bed and read that book that somehow always seem to make you feel just a little bit better.
